Keep track of blogs and leave comments on them.  A good way to get increased traffic on your blog is to read other people’s blogs and leave comments.  As long as your comments are relevant to the post you will be allowed in most cases to post and link back to your blog.  Now the work you put in is amplified by the work they put into their blog.  This can generate local traffic if you are posting on blogs of people locally.  In most cases sales can come from anywhere in the world though so don’t forget that non-local traffic can also drive sales.

Nothing creates long-term traffic more than value. Consider writing posts with resources or explaining how things work. Useful things get linked to on other websites and blogs and can greatly increase traffic over time.  Pick something in your field that you know a lot about – and may be complicated to many and boil it down to simple terms.  You will be surprised on your statistics to see how popular a well written how-to will be. 

A great tip for generating traffic is off-line by including your url in all your off-line literature from business cards, letterheads, pamphlets, adverts through in-store signage etc.  Always tell people that you have a blog, about your blog, and if applicable write about them in your blog.
